Officina Gusto

Update: We have been again, and this time we were sadly disappointed with our pasta. The pasta (all four dishes) were not salted, not super warm and the carbonara was not the same taste as last time. Instead of pancetta we had fried bacon as decoration. The tiramisu was a bit too heavy on cream but delicious. Still nice team. Old review: Very nice team that helps to find the best choice for drinks and food. Pasta is very rich and delicious. Pasta is served in a pan, one of our four dishes wasn't super warm anymore and cooled down quickly since we were sitting outside, but still delicious. Reservation recommended.

We went to celebrate my birthday and it was just perfect. Our first outing since the Covid confinement. This is not your conventional Italian restaurant. You wont find pizza and lasagna on the menu. What you will find is authentic menu choices with names that left me wondering what?? But our Italian friend give us directions and we all chose something different to get a good variety of tastes to explore. It was great, no overpowering tastes, subtle but well defined aromas with perfectly cooked pasta. We all enjoyed our meals and had one of they're specialty deserts. I recommend this restaurant if you are looking for authentic Italian cuisine. Ciao

I really don't recommend this place. We had a terrible experience and were treated extremely badly by the waiter (the guy with glasses). We arrived at 9:40 pm, 20 minutes before the kitchen to close, and we were forced to choose the dish in 2 minutes. The waiter stood next to us, pressuring us. A completely embarrassing situation. And the food, spaguette pomodoro, was terrible, despite costing 18 euros.

We were four people, one of them was quite late but the restaurant was very patient with us although we left last . The non-alcoholic cocktails were tasty and refreshing and the restaurant is situated in an ancient touristic and shopping area, right next to the cathedral, so waiting was pleasant enough ...once the moving van plus workers next door had finished their business ! The decoration inside is extremely pleasant for the eye ; the only reason why I did not put 5 stars is because I have mobility problems and the stairs going to the bathroom is steep for me; On top of that, there's an extra step before the stall that is not easy to detect, and I tripped. The starters/ side dishes were good, we all loved the roasted artichokes, they were to die for ! The pasta was also on the generous side and savoury, although one of us found theirs a bit on the over-creamy side . I had a pistacchio version of Tiramisu for dessert, quite enjoyable , to my taste it could have been a tad more firm (but it was a hot day) . Our waiter Giorgio was so professional and sweet, he's a keeper, I'm sorry I could not tip him more ! Altogether, a lovely experience for lunch, well worth the visit.

Sadly, my visit to OFFICINA GUSTO in Toulouse was a significant disappointment. Although the restaurant boasted a beautiful view of the cathedral and the staff was polite and hospitable, the food did not meet even the most fundamental standards. In particular, the carbonara dish lacked the rich and intricate flavours that are expected from this classic dish. Moreover, the pasta dishes that my family members chose (pistacchio pesto) were tasteless and uninspired, lacking any distinguishing qualities. Given the lackluster food at OFFICINA GUSTO, I would suggest exploring other dining options in Toulouse that offer more enjoyable and value for money culinary experience.

Unfortunately, my experience at OFFICINA GUSTO in Toulouse left much to be desired. While the view of the cathedral and the kindness of the staff were redeeming factors, the food itself was not up to par. The carbonara, a classic Italian dish -mind you I am not Italian- was a major disappointment. The recipe was inauthentic, with bacon used in place of the traditional ingredients guanciale. There was simply no pepper, and despite a description bemoaning those who put cream into their dish, this tasted suspiciously like it was the case. The result was a dish that lacked the depth and richness that makes carbonara so beloved. It was clear that the chef did not have a deep understanding of Italian cuisine, and it was disappointing to see such a lack of authenticity in the preparation of the dish. To make matters worse, the portions at OFFICINA GUSTO were wastefully large. While some may see this as a positive, the reality is that the excessive portions meant that a significant amount of food was left uneaten. This not only contributes to food waste but also leaves a bad taste in the mouth of customers who feel like they are being forced to overeat in order to justify the high prices.

Visiting Toulouse for a few days when we stumbled across Officina Gusto. We had a cheeky afternoon drink and checked out the menu, only to return that evening - with no table reservation. Wow, wow, wow - the food, the service, the atmosphere was out of this world. Such a fabulous menu with enough choice to make your decision tricky, but only because everything is just so tempting. We would definitely recommend coming here, you will love it!
